Symington Endowment Fund

The Symington Endowment Fund is a donor advised fund held by the Coquitlam Foundation. It was established in 2009 by Vivien Symington, founder and owner of Club Aviva, in honour of her parents Dr. David C Symington and Evelyn Symington. Vivien established the fund to empower children with neuro-developmental disabilities, youth-at-risk, and high performance gymnasts in the pursuit of excellence.

The heart of Club Aviva’s philosophy is deeply influenced by the pioneering vision of Dr. David Symington. His lifelong dedication to advancing human development, compassion‑centered care, and accessible rehabilitation laid the foundation for values that guide us today. His belief that every individual—regardless of ability—holds incredible potential continues to shape the spirit of our programs, our coaching, and our community.

"People with disabilities need a hand up, not a handout." - Dr. David Cambidge Symington

"My father taught me that the greatest gift we can offer another human being is belief - belief in their dignity, their potential, and their right to be included. Leading this Foundation is my way of carrying his light
forward. Every life we touch is continuation of his legacy."
- Vivien Symington, Founding Director & Chair of Symnington Symbiotic Foundation
