Truth and Reconciliation is a profound and transformative concept that holds the power to heal and bridge divides in societies that have been deeply scarred by conflict or injustice. The process begins by uncovering the truth of past atrocities, shining a light on the dark corners where secrets and lies reside. Once the truth is laid bare, the process of reconciliation begins. It has the power to transform individuals, communities, and nations, and to create a world where empathy and reconciliation prevail. The taste of reconciliation is bittersweet, for it is born out of pain and suffering, but it is also nourishing and life-giving. It is the recognition of justice, of wounds finally healing, and of a brighter future forged through unity and understanding. The journey of Truth and Reconciliation is not an easy one, but its rewards are immeasurable.
As kʷikʷəƛ̓əm continues to heal our community remains steadfast and dedicated to learning our own truths and bringing meaningful reconciliation to our families and loved ones who have been deeply
impacted by the devastating legacy of the colonial history of Canada.
